The girl's birthday is on February 28th (born close to midnight), the boy's birthday is on March 1st (on the other side of midnight). This year is a leap year. The year they were born was not a leap year.
If she is born on Feb 28th and he is born on Mar 1st, wouldn't that make him her YOUNGER brother?
Another possible solution is that she has two brothers who are twins. Their birthday is two days later than hers (she was born in a different year, of course). This way "older twin brother" can be interpreted in two ways:
1. They (the twins) were born in a year prior to her (thus making them older than her); and/or 2. One of the twins was born before the other, thus making him the elder of the twins (the other twin, being born after his brother, is her younger twin brother).
Both twins were born on February 29th. Each chose a day on which to *celebrate* their birthday - she chose the 28th of February, he chose the 1st of March. They stick to this arrangement even in a leap year.
They are Siamese twins getting an operation to split them apart - so to their mind's they are being born again - hence their birthday's?!? Is that right?
They didn't really want to mention Kuato growing out of the chaps stomach - it was a sensitive subject - They supressed the gag reflex enough to fill in the birth certificate two days later

The boy and girl are twins, conceived by IVF, and were implanted in utero at different times after fertilization. Hence, different birthdays.
