Five apples are in a basket. How do you divide the apples among five children so that each child gets an apple, yet one apple remains in the basket?

hand out four apples and give the fifth child the apple and the basket.
I was going to say, give four children one apple each, and put the fifth child in the basket, but I see I was beaten to it, or something essentially the same.
Both answers are correct, though pilgrim's is funny as well!
